Vacancy - Teacher of Art (maternity cover)
We are looking to appoint a Teacher of Art (maternity cover)
Teacher of Art - Maternity Cover (0.6-0.8fte)
Thank you for showing an interest in this post. This post has arisen due to the maternity of the current postholder and is a fantastic opportunity to make a difference. You will be ably supported in the role by an experienced Head of Department. The role is to start in September 2025 and will be for the whole of the academic year. Teachers at any stage of their career are invited to apply.
We have almost 800 students on roll; boys only 11-16, and co-educational in the Sixth Form. The school has long been synonymous with excellence and the school’s reputation for providing a first-rate all-round education for local students has been strengthened even further over recent years. Our academic results speak for themselves while our achievements in Sport, Music and other activities are outstanding. We have been recognised as a Good school with Outstanding features by Ofsted and were delighted with this outcome, which recognised the strengths of the school and supported our own perceived areas for improvement.
We have been recognised as one of the top schools in the country based on our performance in the last few academic years, and students have regularly accepted offers for Oxbridge and the top Universities. The friendly, cheerful atmosphere of the school helps our students enjoy learning and, as they grow into young men and women, we enable them to take increasing responsibility for themselves and for others around them.
To the right candidate, this post will be an extremely rewarding experience, an opportunity to really make a difference. I hope that having read the information and looked at the information on the website, you will decide that Carre’s is the right school for you and that you will make an application. To do so, please submit the application form and a letter of no more than 2 sides of A4 in which you should cover:
- Your experience of teaching to date;
- Your educational philosophy;
- Why this particular post would suit you;
- How you would help take this department forward; and
- Relevant interests that would enrich students at Carre’s.
Completed applications should be in school no later than midday on Friday 25 April. Interviews will take place during the following week, but we reserve to right to call candidates to interview before the closing date.
If you would like further information about the post or an informal discussion, please e-mail Ms Theresa Angus (Head of Art.)
You are warmly invited to visit our school and should e-mail Mrs J Body (Head’s PA) or call 01529 302181 to book a visit, but we recognise that this may be difficult and it does not preclude you from applying or being called to an interview if you are unable to visit us beforehand.
As part of the Robert Carre Trust we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment and to undergo enhanced DBS checks.
