The University of Lincoln
LSFMJ Women in Sports Media Day
The University of Lincoln’s School of Film, Media and Journalism, in collaboration with Sky Sports News, invites you to attend the Women in Sports Media Day on Wednesday 31 January 2024.
Female students aged between 15 and 18 with a passion for journalism, sports journalism, public relations, or the media, then this is the event for youi. We want to inspire the next generation of female sports writers, broadcasters, presenters, and PR professionals to take their first steps on the path to their dream career.
Students will gain an understanding of journalism and PR from professionals working for Sky Sports News including presenter Jo Wilson, BBC Lincolnshire journalist and social media producer Beth Pritchard and Ceara Best, digital communications officer at Manchester City FC.
The event will begin with a welcome meeting at 10am and then students can choose from five workshops in the LSFMJ newsrooms in the Alfred Tennyson Building at the university’s Brayford Pool site in Lincoln, covering topics such as TV presenting, podcasting, live sports production, public relations & social media and taking part in press conferences.
The day will conclude with a panel discussion with sports media professionals in which students will be encouraged to ask questions to gain additional insights into the sports media industry.
The event will end no later than 2.30pm to give students a enough time to return to their schools before the end of the school day. The university will provide everyone involved with lunch as well as arranging parking on campus for school vehicles.
This is an exciting opportunity for students to work with and gain experience from professionals in the sports media industry. For more details and to register your interest, email wism@lincoln.ac.uk
