COVID-19 and Updates

Home Lateral Flow Testing
From September students continue to have access to twice weekly lateral flow home testing and we encourage all students to take part. Students will bring their testing kits home from school and we encourage them to test every Sunday and Wednesday evenings. Whatever the result of the test it needs recording to both the NHS and to the school via these links.

Staff should also report their test whatever the results to both the NHS and the school.

Symptoms
If any member of your household displays any of the following symptoms, they need to remain at home and arrange to have a Covid-19 PCR test:

  • a new continuous cough
  • a high temperature
  • a loss of, or change in, your normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia)
  • More information can be found here

Self-Isolating or COVID Positive student
To alert us to the fact that your child is self-isolating or has tested positive on an LFT or PCR test please email enquiries@carres.uk or ring 01529 302181.

Your message will be picked up in school hours and teachers will be informed that work needs to be set remotely for your child to do if they are well enough.

There is no need to let the school know urgently out of hours. Our previous hotline and specific alert email address has been decommissioned as schools are not currently being asked to trace close contacts. Students are now expected in school even if they have been in close contact with a positive case. In this situation students and staff are expected to take a PCR test within 48 hours and only self isolate if they test positive

Tracing close contacts and isolation
Close contacts will now be identified by NHS Test and Trace.

When to isolate
Pupils, staff and other adults should not come into school if they have symptoms, have had a positive test result in the last 10 days, or if there are other reasons requiring them to stay at home due to the risk of them passing on COVID-19 (for example, they are required to quarantine after travel).

When isolation is not required
Individuals are not required to self-isolate if they live in the same household as someone with COVID-19, or are a close contact of someone with COVID-19, and any of the following apply:

  • they are fully vaccinated (at least 2 weeks following second vaccine dose)
  • they are below the age of 18 years and 6 months
  • they have taken part in or are currently part of an approved COVID-19 vaccine trial
  • they are not able to get vaccinated for medical reasons
